| Important Notes |
| Electronic over- rev limiters can only limit the maximum engine speed when the engine is being driven under its own power. The unit cannot prevent engine overspeed caused by the engine being driven by the wheels or other inertia effects. |
| SmoothCut units do not operate with Capacitor Discharge (CD) type ignition units. However, these units are very rare nowadays, being restricted to use on some older Porsche cars and on most motorcycles. |
